3 Ways to Get Rid of Cold Sores Naturally

Wow I did not know this fact about cold sores >> “Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus.”
So this was a request from my beautiful reader 🙂 And here it is.

“I get a cold sore at least once a year, and they are the grossest things ever !!! Ive tried all the name brand store treatments that say it reduces the way it looks in 24 hours and well…..THATS A LIE !! Any ideas on how to prevent those ugly things or make them disappear as fast as they came???? “

You can send me a request too. Just click on the Ask me? tab on the top of my page.
I always got them whenever I went India, so yes I have the experience. So far I only used ice cubes to treat them but that’s not good enough and I just found that out. There are so many other, better ways 🙂 Check them out…

What causes it?

Stress
Anxiety
Cold
Too much exposure in sun

Natural Treatments:

First of all AVOID salty and acidic foods as they can aggravate the cold sores and make them painful.

1.   Dab some tea tree oil on the cold sore with a cotton. It should disappear in 2-3 days. Dab it a few times in a day and before going to sleep.

2.   Place a damp tea bag on your cold sore. I would suggest green tea and keep it on for 1-2 mins. Don’t wash it off after that.

3. You can also dab some coconut oil or lavender essential oil.

You can prevent them by using lip balms that has some SPF in it. I use Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Balm
It is the SOFTEST and the most gorgeous lip balm ever. It isn’t that expensive and it has SPF of 15.

You should take care you don’t pass it on to someone because it is very contagious as it is a virus.
I hope you found your way out of those painful sores 🙁 I know how it feels.

DIY: Body Sugaring Experience to Remove Body / Facial Hair Naturally

Hi Girls! I am in Canada for holidays right now. Thats why I haven’t been able to write many posts 🙁

But here’s a lovely suggestion sent by one of my beautiful reader who have tried the Body Sugaring technique to remove hair. If you want to know more about it click HERE.
So this is what she commented and I really appreciate it. I think its a better idea 🙂

I have been sugaring regularly for about six months now, using a different method from the one you describe. I am very happy with it and I want to share it with everyone.
I prepare the sugar by cooking two cups of water, three cups of sugar, and two teaspoons of lemon juice to 260°F (make sure to adjust for altitude). It’s important to be precise with the temperature, otherwise the sugarwax turns either too liquid or too firm, and it’s useless in both cases. A $1 candy thermometer works just fine.

I let it cool to room temperature (it turns a light golden yellow), then I take a small piece of the pliable mixture and mould it with my hands a little. I apply it against the natural direction of hair growth, making sure to push it into the hair follicles, and pull it quickly in the direction of hair growth. I reuse the same piece of sugar for as long as it works, and just grab a new one when there is too much hair on it. There are several YouTube videos explaining how to do this strip less sugaring, however most of them use a different recipe. I have tested several, and I find this one to work best.

I prefer strip less sugaring to virtually any other method for just about any part of my body. I find that hair takes longer to grow back than regular waxing, and there is virtually no skin irritation because sugar doesn’t adhere to live skin like wax does. Finally, pulling the hairs out in the direction of their growth has unexpected benefits: less pain and no ingrowns (usually a big issue for me).

So this is what she does and to be honest I think this is better 🙂
Thanks for your idea 🙂

DIY: Body Sugaring to Remove Body / Facial Hair from Roots

Helloo Girls! So a few days back I posted Ancient Egyptian Beauty Secrets where I mentioned about Body Sugaring. I couldn’t fully explain about Body Sugaring in that post because it’d take really long. So I am making a separate post for that.

A lot of Egyptian and Indian women used this Body Sugaring technique to remove hair from the roots. They had a lot of problems from lice so they preferred to keep themselves hair-less. They even shaved their heads and wore a wig instead to avoid lice. Read more how to remove body hair from the roots with this technique…
This is very similar to waxing except this is a natural approach.

All you Need:

1 cup Sugar
Juice from one half Lemon
1 cup Honey
A Popsicle stick or a Spatula
Cotton Fabric Strips (You can use old jeans fabric and cut it into strips).

Directions:

1.     Mix all the ingredient in a sauce pan and turn on the heat to medium.
2.     Once it starts boiling turn the heat to low and start stirring.
3.     Turn off the heat after 2 mins of stirring and let it sit until it gets warm enough to touch.
4.     Please be careful here and make sure you don’t get burnt by the hot mixture 🙂

How to Apply:

1.     Dust your skin with talc powder or cornstarch. This will prevent the paste from sticking to your skin.
2.     Use the popsicle stick or spatula to apply the paste in direction of hair growth.
3.     Cover the applied paste with cotton/ jeans strips and rub the fabric in direction of hair growth.
4.     Hold the skin tight and pull the strip off in opposite direction of hair growth.

Click here to read the Experience of Body Sugaring.

And that’s it 🙂 I told you its very similar to waxing except the paste is home made.
Let me know how it worked for you 🙂

13 Ancient Egyptian Beauty Secrets

I did a post before on Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Secrets. And this is the second on on Egyptian. I absolutely LOVE searching for Ancient Secrets and not just for Beauty purpose but also because I think Historic stuff is really reliable than nowadays. I can trust the historic beauty recipes rather than today’s lotions and potions. And we all know the reason why 🙂

When we think of Egypt, Cleopatra comes in our mind first. The woman who is an iconic symbol of Beauty. She wrote books on Beauty Secrets she found throughout her life. Things like Exfoliants, Eye Creams, Hair Extensions are all coming from Ancient Egypt. But they were pure and natural in those times unlike now. So keep on reading to reveal those secrets…

Secrets Revealed:

  • Many Egyptian women used Sea Salt from The Dead Sea. Cleopatra used this salt in her bath. This Sea Salt was a skin rejuvenator and it combats skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. I did a blog post on DIY: Pure Sea Salt Facial Toner and I absolutely love it 🙂
  • The combination of Milk and Honey was really popular as a face mask or body wash. I use honey with cinnamon so I might give this a try too.
  • A hair mask was made with Coconut Milk and warm Extra Virgin Olive Oil to strengthen and condition hair. It sounds so luxurious <3
  • Aloe Vera played a HUGE part in Egyptian and Indian beauty routines. It was used for skin, hair, healing burns etc… This ingredient was like All in 1 ingredient. And I absolutely agree. They even ate it  sometimes to improve digestion and lose weight.
  • Avocado was used to reduce the puffiness under eyes.
  • A technique called Body Sugaring was used to remove Body Hair. It removed the hair from roots and when it grows back, there will be less of it and it will be softer. I will do a separate post on this technique because it will take VERY long to explain.
  • Rosemary Oil, Castor Oil and Almond Oil was used to stimulate hair growth.
  • Egyptian women used a lot of Aromatic Oils for a clean hygiene. The most popular were frankincense and myrrh essential oils. These were their treasured scents and the most adored <3
  • The combination of Honey and Natron (or Baking Soda) was used as a facial scrub.
  • Coconut Oil, Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter was used as hair gels and to hold their hairstyles in place.
  • This was the most surprising secret I found. Cleopatra used crocodile’s dung and Donkey’s milk together as a Body Wash. Well no one is really going to adapt this tip nowadays but I just thought to put it down because I think its pretty strange.
  • Henna was popular to give their nails and hair a tinted colour of yellow-red tones.
  • They made eye liner out of galena and lead sulfide. The spice saffron was used as an eyeshadow. Burnt almonds were used to darken eyebrows. And Red Ochre was used to color lips.

9 Benefits of Keeping Plants Indoors

Hey girls! Most of my friends decorate their houses with beautiful plants. And I actually think that is a really good idea. Not only it has sooo many benefits but it also helps global warming right? So why not go green 🙂
You might think what’s a little plant going to help but think about it. If everyone is going to say that, we would have been surrounded by desert right now.

The Benefits:

  • They purify the air inside the house. So if you are living in a very polluted city, you might want to try this to keep your house purified. Purified air also makes your skin glow and your over all health.
  • It removed carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide from the air.
  • Putting a plant indoors will reduce health problems like coughing and dry throats.
  • It reduces fatigue. So for lazy people (like me) this is very helpful.
  • If you are surrounded by a good environment, then naturally it keeps you happy and glowing.
  • Kenneth Freeman, head of Ambius University notes that by putting plants in the work environment, people are healthier, they’re happier, they’re more engaged with people around them. People are up to 17 per cent more productive just by having plants there
  • Some plants aloe vera are SUPER beneficial since you can use it for your skin, hair etc… In India, most of the families had at least one aloe vera plant because this plant doesn’t need much water and since it is REALLY hot there, it can survive easily.
  • If you keep a little plant in your office or study room, it will keep you stress free and this will allow you to work for longer hours and harder 🙂
  • If you are prone to allergies, keeping plants in your house may help you reduce them.

What Plants are Suitable Indoors:

Aloe vera- needs very little water
Chinese Evergreen- grows in low sunlight so perfect for indoors, and highly rated as indoors purifier.
Lady palm or Rhapis excelsa- tolerates low light and it is long lasting.
Prayer plant or Calathea- Enjoys warm, high-level light situations
Zanzibar gem or Zamioculcas zamiifolia- Great for high or low levels of light and tolerant of long dry spells
I hope we will soon end the global warming.
Your little efforts will bring a big change.
So respect your earth by giving a few hours from your precious lives to bring this change.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

India has all types of people living in all kinds of places from a dusty dessert to tropical forests. And the secrets I am going to share with you all are coming from the era when princesses used to bathe in milk and rose petals which is about.. thousands of years ago.
Indian women mostly focus on their skin complexions, body shape and hair care.
We love to make our hair smell good, keep our skin fair and build curves in our body.
It is said that women in ancient India were praised of their lustrous, long hair and flawless complexion.
So let’s see what they did to achieve what I call the ‘natural glam’ haha

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

1)     If you are on a journey to losing weight, you might want to try adding spice in your diet e.g. chillies. But don’t go overboard. Chillies speed up your metabolism and believe it or not, even models add chillies and other spices in their diet to maintain their weight.
Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets
2)     Neem leaves were very popular to treat acne and other skin problems. The leaves were crushed to make a paste / face mask or neem oil was used as a cleanser

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets
3)     Turmeric was an important spice used to even out the skin complexion and get rid of hyperpigmentation. Make a paste of chick pea flour, turmeric and milk. Add the ingredients until it has consistency like any other face masks. Apply this paste all over your body and massage it in. Wash it out after 10-15 mins.

4)     Use cold water as a toner. It closes the pores, improves blood circulation and cell stimulation. Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

5)     As well as neem, onion juice was also believed to fight off acne. Mix some onion juice and honey in equal ratio. Apply it as a face mask and wash it after 10-15 mins.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets6)     Another face mask for acne prone skin uses sandalwood and turmeric powder mixed with yoghurt. This mask has anti-septic properties. It makes your skin smooth, soft, acne-free and even toned. Mix the ingredients until your desired consistency forms and apply it. Wash it after 10-15 mins.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets7)     Ancient Indian women used Kajal (homemade natural eyeliner). It was made from castor oil, coconut oil, almond oil and black mustard seeds. This made your eyes brighter/whiter, it improved vision and stimulates the growth of eye lashes

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets8)    The main ingredients used for hair care were Amla, Shikakai, Coconut Oil and Henna. There are actually thousands of herbs that were used for hair care but these are the main ones. And I always use coconut oil. I can swear by it. It really does help my hair grow really fast.

9)     Ayurveda advises that do not put anything on your skin that you cannot eat. All their face masks are actually edible. Even if I use these natural stuff, I put make up on my skin like foundation. I wonder what it does to my skin 🙁 I will try to use them less often now.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

10)   Many people think that being beautiful will make us happy but it is really the other way around. You will be beautiful when you are happy from the inside. Try to walk past a crowd of people with a frown on your face or a beautiful smile and you will notice the difference.

The secret my Mum passed on to Me:

It is a face mask. My skin was really bad back then and so she advised me to apply this face mask which actually changed my skin A LOT.  I kept ignoring her advice because I used to think it’s an old thing and it’s not gonna work but actually nothing worked better than this face mask.
It was Honey and Cinnamon mask. For more details on this click HERE.I truly want to stop using cosmetics and embrace these ancient secrets. And to be honest, the one that I have already embraced have worked WAY better than anything else. For example coconut oil for my hair, honey and cinnamon for skin and certain diets for body. I will try my best to adapt a Natural Healthy Lifestyle.

Are you willing to do that? Can you give up the cosmetics and embrace Natural ingredients that work like magic? I will certainly try my best 🙂

DIY: 7 Tips to Get Rid of Razor Bumps Naturally

prevent razor bumps

This is a request from my lovely blog reader. If you have any questions or requests, click on the Make a Request tab.

I hate getting those razor bumps after shaving too. So here are some things I tried to get rid of them or prevent them. My skin is super sensitive so I have to be really careful when it comes to shaving or waxing or anything.
1)     When you are shaving, go over the area really slow. Don’t rush it because that’s when the things get
worse and you get the bumps.

2)     Shave at night time so if you get razor bumps, they will be gone by the morning.

aloe vera

3)     If you get razor bumps when shaving at night, apply some aloe vera gel on legs. Aloe Vera is anti-
inflammatory and really moisturising. So it gets rid of the bumps and moisturises your legs. Thats 2 in 1
thing. And that is why Aloe Vera is my favourite natural thing.

olive oil

4)    You can also apply olive oil if you don’t have aloe vera gel. But honestly, I would prefer Aloe better 🙂

5)    Wash your legs with warm water to open the hair follicles. This will make it easier for you to shave and
        makes your skin less irritant.

6)    Shave in the direction of hair growth the first time. It is gentler. Then go over the same area again except
this time, shave against the direction of hair growth. Shaving in the direction of hair growth also prevents
       ingrown hair.

7)    Don’t shave everyday. This will irritate your skin. Shave every other day or two.

    flawless legs

These tips are testes on myself so I am speaking from experience. I hope these tips helps you girls. So go out there with sexy flawless legs and be confident.

But remember that, Everything has its beauty but not Everyone sees it 🙂

DIY: Dry Brushing to Get Rid of Cellulite and Get Healthier Skin

This is a very simple method to get rid of Cellulite and get healthier skin. I haven’t tried it but I want you girls to know about it and try it for yourself. I have seen a lot of before and after photos on google and people say that it works so why not give it a chance. There’s nothing to lose right? I will definitely try it out.

Our skin is like a third kidney. It releases many toxic materials like sweat and a lot of other stuff. So it needs a little care to get rid of the released materials that lie on our skin. If your skin cannot release these particles, it can result in acne, body odours, rashes etc…
I hope that makes sense 🙂

Benefits:

  • It is more cleansing and eliminating than any other soaps.
  • It gets rid of all the dead skin cells
  • Makes your skin more effective so it can easily release toxic materials. When your skin does that, there are less chances of getting bacne, the sweat smell etc…
  • It increases blood circulation and so it tones the skin. Then you can have that flawless skin without tanning your legs or anything like that.
When you buy a brush, buy the one that has natural fibre bristles. Now this is the reason why I haven’t tried this method. Its because I can’t find a brush with these bristles anywhere. If you girls know where to buy it from, please let me know in the comments 🙂
When you are brushing, use no soap or water. It might feel harsh first, but your skin will adjust to it. If your skin is too sensitive, then start with a dry towel.
Use a different brush for face of course.
When brushing the body, every brush motion should be directed towards the heart.
When brushing face, do it in rotary motions starting from the top forehead.
DO NOT brush the sensitive parts like breasts or where you have an injury or if its infected, irritated etc…
After brushing all over, moisturise your body with any plant oils such as almond, olive, sunflower or use Euro Organic Oil

Do this everyday and your skin will be glowing. Wash the brush using soap once a week. After washing the brush, let it dry out in sunlight.
Take Care.
