How to Break Free from The 9-5 Shift Jobs

A 9-5 job (or should I say jail) will give you a living but a true passion will give you a life!

Steve Jobs always used to say “the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking! Don’t Settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”

If Steve Jobs wouldn’t have quit college and continued on working his butt off we would never experience the luxury of having Apple laptops.

If Thomas Edison would have followed the footsteps of everyone around him we wouldn’t have a light bulb lighting up our homes.

If Columbus never took the risk of going beyond the unknown sea, America would have never been found.

So think about it! This slavery of 9-5 shift is in fact taking you away from your true passion. You could be the next greatest person to come up with some crazy inventions. You don’t have to be smart or rich for that. You just have to ignite your passion and follow your own inner voice that you shoved it away because of this slavery.

If you are thinking that “oh but that was Einstein. Like I mean come on he was smart and so he came up with all the crazy inventions. I am not that smart. I don’t know what to do.”
Well here’s a fact: Einstein failed so many times during his years in school. He was considered as a student with low IQ.
He could have made the excuses like “I am not smart enough” or “I don’t have enough money and time to spend” but he didn’t. He basically didn’t give a shit about what everyone else thought of him. He did his thing and bam! He is now immortal even after his death in our books of history and science.

Imagine waking up everyday and feeling like your life is a vacation. You are free to go anywhere without a job permission.
Imagine never working because if you love what you do it will never feel like work and stress.
Imagine being truly free!

Ok enough of the pep talk! Let’s get to the how part…

(1)   But I don’t know what my passion is…

Is there anything you do every single day that you have been doing for years and enjoy every moment of it? It could be cooking… organizing… writing… reading… painting… researching… taking photos… Think of something that you would do to take a break from a stressful day. Think of the things you do when you want to “escape” from reality.

It took me a long time to realize as well but eventually I came out. I asked myself over and over again when the answer was right in front of me. I love hiking, travelling, being with nature and all that. Then I also love blogging and sharing beauty tips with people. So I combined both my passions and I made a beauty blog that encourages a natural / organic lifestyle. It expresses my love for nature, my love of blogging and helping young girls throughout the world.

Although I have college and sometimes gets very busy but I never ever suppress away my true passions just so I can get higher grades in something I am not even interested in.

2)   But I have a family to feed…

I can understand this situation that you can’t seem to escape from because you have children and you need money to feed them. You can’t just quit everything and run away from it because you are not the only one responsible for.

In this case, take time out for your passion. As you take the time out this will be you taking your first step towards a success that gives you the real pleasure and feelings of bliss.

After quitting college, Steve Jobs used to do calligraphy because it was what he really loved to do. That was his first step. By quitting college he got more time to spend for his passions. He had nothing to lose. Spending this time developed his skills and led him to the idea of Apple.

You don’t have to see the whole staircase just to take the first step. The first step is you putting your faith in yourself that you will succeed. The first step is the you being a little closer to true happiness and life. The first step is you coming out of your own protective box that stops success from entering in your life.

All it takes is a little time from your normal life. Would you be willing to give that time for the ultimate happiness?

3)   But I don’t have money and resources…

As you take your first step you will realize that you actually don’t need these resources.
People have become success when they fell to their rock-bottom… when they became homeless or when they were lost. How do you think they got the money and resources?
Their only secret was their first step, their effort to get back up in the game of life, their courage against failure and their faith in themselves.

I started blogging and it was a real success but when I came in 12th grade I made excuses like I don’t have time and that it distracts me from my study. So I didn’t update my blog for almost a year and a half. Then I got in college but I always felt empty like all I did was go to college, study, meet friends and come back home. This was my routine every single day. I didn’t want to feel like an average normal person. I wanted to be different and put myself out there. I wanted passion. I wanted to help others. And most importantly I wanted to give meaning to my life! But I realized I was only making excuses because I was afraid of failing. I was afraid what people will say about me if I fail. I was afraid that if I fail I will feel worthless.

Leave all your fears behind. Sometimes people aren’t afraid of the failure they are afraid of being successful and reaching greater heights. They are afraid these heights will be so high that if they fall it will hurt even more. So they stay on the safe side of life.
It will keep you safe but you will not experience true happiness. And trust me when you feel that bliss it consumes you and you will never feel fear.

You will never have to take anyone’s permission for taking a day off from work.

Imagine those days when you don’t have to escape from any stressful work because every day of your life will be vacation. You won’t have to drag yourself out on Mondays.
When you do something you love it doesn’t feel like work. The hard work doesn’t feel like effort and stress. In fact it will make you happy!

It is your choice which journey you want to take on…

6 Reasons Why Your Diet / Weight Loss Programme Is Not As Effective…

Why is it that when some people don’t even try to be fit and they are perfectly healthy.

If you are someone who wants to lose weight, be healthy and fit at the same time but can’t seem to figure out why nothing is working out then click on read more right away…

This post is NOT about losing weight in an unhealthy way. To be honest counting calories doesn’t help at all. Speaking from experience!
 
1)    First of all don’t call it a Diet. I think this word leads to a lot of negativity. As soon as we think of the word diet we start thinking about the bitter tastes of green juices, eating food that doesn’t even taste good but we still pretend it does and a LOT of self-control.

Dieting is not about throwing away carbs and calories. It is about balancing all the types of nutrients. You can still eat carbs BUT in moderation. Don’t deprive yourself from certain nutrients. Believe it or not but healthy fats and carbs actually exist.

2)    If you are going to lock away certain foods somewhere you can’t reach just so you don’t get the craves… the chances are you will get the cravings even more. Because if you deprive yourself from something your body will naturally react to it and you will end up eating the junk food even more than before.

What you can do is to learn to buy or cook food that can imitate the food you are trying to avoid. For example, if you REALLY like chocolate, go to your local health store and find organic chocolate. The sweeteners used in them are organic like honey or maple syrup. And trust me some of them are as good as Cadbury.
I eat dates to stop the sugar-y cravings 🙂 They are actually good.
So all you have to do is find the healthy food that imitates the taste of junk food. Simple as that!

3)    Stop obsessing and stressing over losing weight. And especially stop the negative thoughts. The difference between the people who try a lot but don’t get results and the people who do nothing but are healthy is they do not take as much stress.

 
Negative thoughts such as comparing yourself with  someone (like those skinny models on magazine covers) and blaming yourself everyday for not being healthy are not going to make you any healthier. In fact it is better you do nothing than have these negative thoughts. Read my nerd fact below and I will prove it!

Nerd Fact: In a recent book I was reading, it stated that whenever we have a thought, it sparks an impulse from neuron to neuron so it can spread out. This “spreading out” causes a pattern of understanding and action. However if we have negative thoughts, a chemical cortisone is released. It blocks the way between neurons preventing the impulses to spread out. Ultimately causing you to feel more miserable and lazy and hence being unhealthy.

BUT if you have positive thoughts, our brain releases a chemical called serotonin which is what I call the nerd-hormone because it makes you smarter and more creative. This chemical makes a way for the impulses to spread and expand. It makes you feel happier about yourself and more active and hence resulting in well-being.
See, science can be explained without the big words that I can’t even pronounce.

Learn How to use Comparisons for growth instead of feeling inferior.

4)    Do NOT eat food at least 2 hours before going to bed. Actually it is stated in Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Medical System) that you shouldn’t eat food once it gets dark because the Sun is a big factor when it comes to digesting food. I am not going into those details because I do not want this post to be 2 pages long but you can Google it.
When it gets dark, the Sun isn’t there to digest our food properly and so it can’t metabolize all the food. And the food that haven’t been digested turns into Ama (toxins). Ama is the cause of many diseases and makes you feel lazier. When did you feel that lately?

You can eat your dinner anytime before 7 p.m. at the latest avoiding fatty, sugar-y foods and red meat. This will digest your food before you go to bed, thus improving the quality of your sleep, enabling your body to focus on cellular repair and renewal during the night rather than working hard on digesting the food. I am definitely not telling you to starve yourself. If you get hungry you can eat a small fruit or drink some fruit juice.

This eating pattern is especially good if you are trying to lose weight and to get clearer / flawless skin. This also helps if you have insomnia.

5)    The size of each of your meals and the number of meals you eat in a day are also very important. Click HERE for more info on this. This stuff is seriously important.

6)    LOVE your body. When I say this, people think that if they start loving their body then that means they will just have to be happy with their type of body and that they will never change.
 
That is not true! Loving your body is the first step towards change in fact. If you think loving your body will only end up in being stuck with it then you are wrong.

That’s how my mentality was as well until I had some experiences and learnt my lessons.
As I explained in my “nerd fact above” this will release the positiveness causing physical changes in your body to occur. It will bring opportunities in your life and make you feel much more energized. 

When I had acne, I used to hate my skin and curse it every time I looked at myself in the mirror resulting in more acne. But then I woke up one day and realized I didn’t deserve all that curse and I was being much more harsh on myself than anyone else. It’s like I was bullying myself and didn’t realise how worse it had gotten. So I woke up and literally started saying positive words for my skin. I even went out without makeup which was a pretty HUGE step considering the fact that I NEVER used to leave house without makeup. I started saying positive affirmations and expressing gratitude every single day. I reassured myself that these acne spots are not going to define who and what I am.

So when I started loving my skin for what it is that is when I saw and felt the change. That was a turning point in my life!

DIY: Natural Eye Drops for Dry / Tired / Red Eyes to Brighten Them

Eyes are a window to the soul. We see the beauty of this world through our eyes. An eye contact is enough to fall in love with a special someone. So of course we want to keep the condition of our eyes well.

When you come home after a long day from work or school do your eyes feel itchy or tired or dry or red? Well if any of these are the symptoms you should know it is curable without the need to put chemicals in your eyes. Our eyes are sensitive so obviously we should approach for a natural method.

I have experimented with these eye drops for around 3 months and therefore I know the benefits it gives 🙂 The eye drops from drugstores will only give you a temporary relief. If you want permanent results I definitely recommend the following method…

Mysteries of Castor Oil:
It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral. It also stimulates our immune system.

It has some unique fatty acids and Vitamin E that helps in the healing process of any organ including our skin and eyes.

It is a native seed of India and it has been widely used in Ayurveda, Chinese Medicines and most eastern countries.

It is widely used in skin care cosmetics because of its ability to heal, inhibit moles and keep the bad bacteria off.

Since it has an ability to thicken and darken hair, it is a perfect remedy for our eye lashes. So this will be another benefit if you use this oil as eye drops.
 
How Do I Use Them as Eye Drops?

Personal Experience:

I used to have slightly dry and red eyes every morning because I wear contact lenses and I was looking for something natural as a cure. I read about a lot of people who cured their various eye conditions with castor oil and decided to give it a try. So I used it once a day before going to sleep.

I have used this method for 3 months and I can say with no hesitation that it works REALLY well.
Yes it takes longer than normal eye drops but the results are waaay better and permanent. The eye drops I used didn’t target the root problem so I would get the dry and red eyes again after a day.

I actually started noticing results in a month and a half with castor oil but I continued to use it for 3 months because I was afraid the symptoms would come back. I haven’t used the oil for about 3 weeks now and my eyes feel really healthy. No sign of dryness or redness. I am super relieved. Yes my eyes look much more brighter and sparkling 😉

Facial oils are really hyped up right now by many makeup artists, beauty bloggers and youtubers. They literally rave about them. What is it about them even though they are oils?
Actually we had it all wrong when it was said that oils clog pores of our skin.
Chemistry says that ‘like dissolves like’ so if we want to get rid of things like sebum, whiteheads and blackheads then we have to target them with ‘like’ chemicals. In other words only oils can dissolve all the nasty oils from our skin.

The only way oils can clog our pores is if they are refined or comedogenic.
Any type of oil you buy, make sure they are organic or cold pressed at least.

  2. I didn’t find it greasy even though it is an oil so I recommend it for people with all skin types. So I can even wear it under makeup.
  3. It is actually nourishing but not heavy or greasy. 
  4. It absorbs into your skin in about 5 mins which is pretty good for an oil. 
  5. It repairs, rejuvenates and nourishes. All in one!
  6. It is 100% organic so it is safe for our skin. It is certified by Soil and Eco-cert Association. 
  7. It is inexpensive compared to other facial oils.
  8. This bottle of 25 ml lasts for at least 2-3 months and I use it in morning and night sometimes. 
  9. I love the packaging because it comes with a dropper which is super convenient.

Cons:

  1. If it goes in your eyes… it burns 🙁 I have no idea how I ended up with facial oil in my eyes. Crazy stuff happens. Its normal 🙂
  2. It is a glass-like bottle so it might not be travel-friendly.

So far I am very pleased with this product and I will continue to buy this again until I find a better facial oil. Until then… hope I gave you a reason to spend some bucks 😉

DIY: 10 Morning Breakfasts for Healthy Skin, Hair and Body (School / Work Edition)

 

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but also the most ignored one… Why? Because most of us are in hurry and we don’t have time to stop, sit and eat. And some of us gets lazy (that’s clearly me!).

A study from Tel Aviv University found that dieters who ate a big breakfast and a small dinner lost 240% more weight than others in the study who had a big dinner and a small breakfast.

Did you know it literally means the meal that “breaks the fast.” I wonder how I never figured that one out :/
It is especially important to eat breakfast if you are trying to lose weight or to be fit.

Why is it so Important?

  • It boosts our metabolism. When we sleep for a LOT of hours our metabolic rate decreases and so we need to eat breakfast to boost it up. It will break down more fat and calories if you eat the morning meal than when you don’t. It’s like turning the engine on which makes us lose weight. How cool is that!
  • It increases our concentration power and also boosts our brain activity. So next time you don’t eat breakfast and fall asleep in the lectures… you know the problem! According to the American Dietetic Association, children who ate their breakfast perform better in the classroom and in the playground.
  • Studies show that it lowers our cholesterol level in the long run. 
  • It keeps the mood swings off. Generally people are in a much better mood if they eat their morning meal with gratitude. Food is always the solutions 🙂

So now you know. Let’s get to the what-to-eat-when-you-are-in-a-hurry part…

1. Grab a Fruit – Takes 30 seconds

Either banana, apple, plums, peaches etc… whatever you favorite fruit just grab it and eat it on the way to your destination. I most likely grab peaches because they are my favorite.

2. Chocolate Honey Oatmeal – Takes 2 minutes


It even sounds delicious. It tastes ever better. So all you do is take some of that chocolate syrup about 1 tbsp. Then mix it with some milk. Heat up the milk to your preference. And add a handful of oats. Although if you want to make it sweeter you can add 1 tbsp of honey. On those mornings when I want to have something sweet but healthy… this is what I make. I know the syrup is not good but hey it’s only 1 spoon 🙂 If you don’t want the chocolate you can use 2 tbsp of honey instead to make it super healthy. It is SO YUMMY!

3. Eggs – Time depends on how you cook it!


I like boiled eggs because I can use put them in a pan to let it boil for 15 mins. Meanwhile I can do my makeup in that time frame and then I come back to my favorite part.. eat them!
You can also make an omelet if you have extra 5 mins. Because eggs have a lot of protein, I think they are the best for breakfast.

4. Granola – Takes 3 mins


Its literally just adding things in a bowl and eating it. I like adding yogurt and berries with my granola. You can add in dry fruits like walnuts and almonds. Change it up everyday and be artsy with it… Although make sure when you buy your granola. Some of them have a lot of added sugar, flavorings, preservatives and all that nasty stuff. That’s not healthy for a morning meal. Look for labels like no artificial sweeteners and flavors.

5. Shakes – 5 mins

Add any of your favorite fruit with milk in a blender and you have a quick shake. I like adding banana because they are naturally sweet so I don’t need to add anything else and it is much quicker. These shakes are like eating and drinking at the same time. You can use strawberries instead and add in a hint of vanilla essence. This could be your protein shake of the day since it is milk based.

6. Smoothies – 5 mins

Grab all your favorite fruits and them em’ in a blender. Change up your recipe every day and experiment it. My favorite smoothie recipe is a bunch of grapes + an apple + a bunch of blueberries = smoothie with a hint of delicious. You can make it more interesting by adding in tropical fruits like mangoes, pineapples, papayas etc… If you make them you will feel like you are sitting on a tropical beach wearing a hoola skirt. I hope I am not the only one with that feeling ~.~

7. Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich – 3 mins


As weird as it sounds, it is just as yummy. So take wholemeal bread (you can toast it as well) and spread some peanut butter in it. Cut up a banana and add the slices on top. It super quick and super good. Make sure the peanut butter is the natural and healthy kind without any artificial sweeteners. As long as it doesn’t have anything artificial in it… its healthy!

8. Avocados on Toast – 3 mins

Toast some break. Spread some ricotta cheese on it and top it off with some sliced avocados. Who knew you could give a twist like this to a toast. The days of classy butter and toast are gone I guess 🙁

9. Cinnamon Sandwich – 3 mins


Take a wholemeal bread or toast. Spread some almond butter on and top it off with some sprinkles of cinnamon. Spices in the morning can also help boost up your metabolism. So keep your hands on this one if you are trying to lose weight.

10. Yoghurt with a twist – 2 mins


Grab some dry fruits or berries or chia seeds or everything and throw it in your bowl of yogurt. Create your very own yogurt twist. Yogurt is also a great metabolism booster.
Even though you only have 5 mins in the morning to eat, you can easily have your breakfast now with any of the recipes above. Honestly I rarely skip it because I get SUPER hungry every morning so I can’t skin it even if I wanted to.
