DIY: Prevent Acne during Periods

Hey guys!! I want to do this post because many girls suggest me to do a DIY post on this topic.
Now why do pimples occur during periods? Its because your hormones get active. Unfortunately we can’t stop these hormones but LUCKILY we can slow them down to prevent acne. So here is what you do to slow them down :-

1) Do some kind of meditation or yoga. NOT the OMMMMM….. kind of ones. They are good but you need to do them in proper way. Okay so first sit on a flat floor with a mat on. Fold your legs and do the basic posture of yoga as shown in the photo above. Now close your eyes and focus on the middle point between your eyes with the eyes closed. Then you can count number or say OMMM.. whichever you prefer. Or you could count sheep except don’t fall asleep haha. The point is to calm down your hormones by concentrating on one point.

2) Wash your hair on the second day of your period to clean and cleanse your scalp. Dirty scalps can cause acne especially during periods. DO NOT wash your hair on first day because it is bad for your health. (That’s what my mom says by the way.) I don’t know how it affects your health though.

3) Wear as less makeup as possible. Use tinted moisturizers instead of foundation for few days.

4) Stay hydrated. Drink water and juices with Vitamin C like orange juices of course.

5) Don’t eat much chocolate and oily foods during periods as it is inflammable for your skin during periods.

I hope these tips work for you. P.S. I don’t get acne on period days which is weird but its true so I don’t have personal experience with the tips but I done the research and that is what the world of internet say 🙂 By the way leave comments below if you have more tips to give and your Personal Experience. Stay healthy and Take Care

DIY: Celebrity Skin Care & Products

Do you get that feeling when you are watching TV and you just wonder “How do they NEVER get any skin problems and always have that glow?” I always get that feeling. So here are some skin care tips that celebrities use. Some celebrities were interviewed and asked questions on their skin routines so here are their responses:

Jennifer Aniston:
“Most of the nights I just use Neutrogena soap” and “I have been washing my face with baking soda for years. It’s not harsh on my skin and gives me a glow.” Now I don’t know about using baking soda on face because I have never tried it but if you guys want to give it a try. I would suggest this for girls with oily skin though.
Neutrogena Original Formula Facial Cleansing Bar, Fragrance Free $8

Kim Kardashian:
Here’s a gross-out fact: Your cell phone is a bacteria farm because you spend all day pressing your face to the pad. The dirt and oil in your face embeds itself on the keypad and then you smash that against your face. Once a week, take a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad (not dripping or you’ll break your phone) and disinfect.
Kendall Curity Nonsterile Alcohol Prep Pads, 300 count $3.15

Jennifer Lopez:
She said several times that honey is her secret weapon for beautiful glowing skin. It is an acknowledged fact that honey contains many nutrients and vitamins that are essential our complexion.

Halle Berry:
She advises us to use fruit acids to exfoliate skin and dead skin cells. I completely agree with her and do suggest it. I haven’t tried it but I think I will now. You can do it with avocados, oranges, kiwis and so on..

Can You Clear up Acne by Imagination?

Okay so I read this article about how you can clear acne by thinking and visualizing that you have clear, beautiful skin. This doesn’t mean that negative thoughts cause acne and that you should stop taking external care of your skin.

Personal Experience: When I read this article, I saved it and thought to put it up for you guys so you can all try it out. But before publishing this post, I tried it myself, and it worked a little bit to be honest. It didn’t clear up everything, but it did make a small difference. My skin is different than yours, so who knows, it may clear up all the acne for you. It’s worth a try.

So here’s what you do:

  • Start by feeling good. Think about the stuff that makes you happy like someone you love or Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Brownie Fudge Ice cream (My favourite ♥) or ANYTHING you love to do. Plus take away ALL the stress that you might have.
  • Now sit down and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths to kind of “warm up.” Then start your visualization. Create a picture/video or whatever you like in your mind where you see yourself happy and with amazing clear skin. Okay this will sound silly, but it feels good. Keep repeating this phrase to yourself in mind “Thank you for my clear skin.”
Do this everyday for at least 5 minutes and you should see the difference. You wouldn’t see a difference in a day, so you have to be patient. When I tried this, I saw difference in around 10 days. So don’t just stop in a week if you don’t see a difference, keep going on for another week and you might get the best results 🙂 Please let me know if this worked for any one of you guys. Take Care.

DIY: Skin Lightening Facial Masks

This is a request from one of my blog readers and I am so sorry I took really long.. I am in so much hurry these days.. Hope they work for you guys though :). Remember, before applying any masks, wash your face with warm water to open up the pores, so the skin can absorb the nutrients. Keep the mask for at least 15 mins and repeat every other day.

1) This is an ancient Indian recipe (It worked wonders for me, for all skin types)
You Need:

    1/2 tsp Turmeric
    1 tsp Yoghurt

Mix them well together and Apply. This recipe is my favourite one because it gets rid of my acne, acne scars and works INCREDIBLY.

2) You Need: (This is for oily skin types)
    1 tsp Gram Flour
    Low Fat Milk

Add enough milk to make a paste type mask. Mix and Apply.

3) You Need: (For Acne Prone and sensitive skin types)
     1/2 tsp Lemon
     1 tsp Honey

Mix and Apply.

4) You Need: (For sensitive/sun burnt skin)
     Cucumber juice
     Gram Flour

Add enough cucumber juice to make a paste. Mix and Apply.

And the last tip to lighten your skin complexion isn’t a facial mask or anything. It is about your diet. Putting on face masks and not eating the right diet is not going to bring any results. So eats lots of fruits/veggies and take care of your vitamins + minerals intake. Drink lots of water as they always say. After all, you are what you eat. Let me know if you have any secret skin lightening recipes 🙂 Take Care.

What your acne is telling you

This is actually my own personal experience. This technique works amazing. I learnt it from a YouTube video. So this is kinda what they call “Face Mapping.” It basically tells you that why you are having acne for example, on your forehead the most. So here it goes..

Why do you get acne on forehead?
The main causes could be stress, not getting enough sleep and not washing hair too frequent. So to get rid of them from your forehead, make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep. DO NOT take any stress. Try to meditate and think positive to get rid of the stress. Wash your hair at least 3 times a weak and be careful if you are wearing hats, as they pass on those bacteria on your fore head, which causes acne. Also it could be poor digestion. So drink lots of water or you could drink green tea (it includes water and green tea is GREAT for poor digestion) or you could drink a lemonade but without sugar, which tastes disgusting but might work for you. I haven’t tried lemonade but let me know if it works for you 🙂 When you are using tweezers on forehead, make sure they are clean. Just wash them under hot water and they will be perfect.

Why do you get acne on temples?
Its because you are eating a lot of junk food and you need to reduce the amount of fat from your diet. Try eating fruits, vegetables that are cooling for your body. Like watermelons, cucumber etc..

Why do you get acne on nose?
You might be eating too spicy food like garlic, chilli, onions etc… So you need to make sure that you are eating a balanced diet and cut down the spicy foods. Also get more fresh air by exercising for e.g, go for a walk. And make sure you include Vitamin B in your diet.

Why do you get acne between your eyes and above your nose?
STOP eating foods 2 hours before you go to sleep. This is very important and it is one of the biggest cause of acne. I used to eat a lot before I go to sleep but since I stopped it, my face started to clear up. Or you could be lactose intolerance. So do not drink all the dairy products.

Why do you get acne on upper cheeks?
Stop smoking. Not only that affects other people’s health but it also pollutes your own house. So throw away those cigarette packets. And keep a plant in your room which will remove the pollution from the environment in your house.

Why do you get acne on lower cheeks?
You need to keep your oral hygiene clean. Brush twice a day. Plus if you talk a lot on phones, the bacteria from your phone gets on your lower cheeks causing more pimples. So keep your phone away from your cheeks. Otherwise, you can clean your phone with anti-bacterial wipes. Sounds crazy huh.?

Why do you get acne on ears?
Drink more water and cut down the salt and caffeine in your diet.

Why do you break out on chin area?
It could be hormonal imbalance which you can’t really help unfortunately unless you do meditation. Plus you are taking too much stress and not getting enough sleep. So make sure to balance it out. Meditate and sleep a lot. Your digestion could be poor so to improve it, drink lots of water and eat some yoghurt 🙂

Please let me know if these tips worked for you 🙂 Take Care

DIY: 4 Ways to Get Rid of Blackheads

Blackheads are caused by dead skin cells and sebum that turns black in colour because of exposure.
Why shouldn’t you use products to remove blackheads? It’s because lots of products have alcohol, menthol and eucalyptus, which increases oil production and this is where blackheads come from.
Here are some ways to get rid of them naturally :-

1) You Need: (This is like making your own pore strips)

    Egg White
Thin tissue paper (Kitchen tissue is fine)

Beat an egg white and make sure you don’t mix the yoke with the white. Apply the egg white on, where you have blackheads and then cover it with 2 layers of tissue. Peel it off when it dries. You will obviously know when it dries. Rinse your face with warm water and the black heads should be gone.
P.S. I haven’t tried it so please tell me guys if it worked or not 🙂

2) You Need:
    Tomato Juice
    Cotton Balls/sheets

Squeeze some tomato juice out. Take your cotton and soak it under warm water. Place the soaked cotton on the blackheads area and hold it there for at least a minute. Repeat soaking the cotton if it gets cold. This will soften the blackheads. Apply the tomato juice on and leave for 15 mins. Rinse your face with cold water to close the pores.

3) You can exfoliate your face every 3-4 days a week to get rid of them. To find a natural exfoliator suitable for your skin type, check out my blog post HERE and make your own exfoliator.

4) You can make your own pore strips at home without spending too much money. Check this video HERE to make them.

What I do to get rid of them, is simply exfoliate my skin naturally about 3-4 times a week. But for you, it depends on your skin. DO NOT try to scrap your skin in order to remove the blackheads. This will damage your skin really bad. Please tell me if you have tried any of these tricks and it worked for you. Your opinion really matters 🙂 Take Care.

DIY: Get Gorgeous Even Tone Skin

Its been SO long since I have blogged and to be honest guys I didn’t even touch my laptop for a week. I know its the saddest thing you have heard. Anyways lets get to the point. This is NOT about rubbing lemons although they work but also makes your skin EXTREMELY dry. I am going to share a home made recipe with you guys that you can use to get even skin tone. Some of us have amazing tanned bodies but then we worry about the “not tanned” parts you know. It looks horrible. So stay tuned if you want gorgeous even tone skin.

1) NEVER forget to use sunscreen lotion when wandering around in sun.

2) Cleanse and exfoliate your body thoroughly. Body Exfoliator: You Need :-

    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Salt
    Essential Oil (optional)

Directions:
Mix these ingredients together. Olive Oil cleanses and moisturises your skin naturally and salt exfoliates to remove dead skin cells. Essential oil like lavender oil is just to give your scrub a little bit of a natural fragrance. But its optional anyway. Rub the scrub in circular motions and then wash your body off with a shower gel.

Personal Experience: I tried this scrub and after using it, my skin felt AMAZINGLY smooth. It was like magic. None of the products ever worked like this scrub. There is no harm in giving it a try 🙂

3) Buy a body moisturiser with vitamin C because it helps to even out your skin tone. You can find these in drug stores or pharmacies.

Don’t tan your body more in order to get rid of the uneven tone because it will make it worse. Take Care

How I Got Rid of My Acne (All DIY)

Hey Guys! Been a Long time because school just started 🙁 Anyways.. I am posting my DAILY SKIN ROUTINE. Which works the BEST for me. I have tried many daily skin care routines and I found this one the most suitable for my skin type. Now, I have different skin than yours, so this routine might only work for the people with similar skin type to mine.

My Skin Type => Combination, Acne Prone (of course), and sensitive.
This is a step by step guide from day to night :-

Morning:
1) When you wake up, wash your face with cold water with any face wash you wish or if you are having a hot shower, make sure you splash your face with cold water. It wakes you up instantly and closes your pores, making your skin look healthy throughout the day. By the way, my favourite face wash is from The Body Shop called Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash.

2) Apply a moisturiser, even if your skin is oily. Skipping this part is one of the worse things you would do to your skin. I use Palmer’s cocoa butter, because it also gets rid of acne scars which eventually disappears after 2 weeks.

3) I apply foundation to cover up. If you do too, then instead of using a primer, use 100% natural aloe gel as a primer. It is one of the best things I did to my skin, because Aloe Vera is INCREDIBLY amazing for skin. It can be use as a natural primer because the texture of it, is so smooth, it will give you a matte finish look.

Afternoon:
1) After you come back from work or school, around 4-5 pm, remove your make up. My best make up remover is EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL. It is good for ALL skin types and it works better than those chemical make up removers.

2) Then, exfoliate your skin. Check my blog post on making your own exfoliator for acne prone skin. Just pick one that is suitable for your skin type HERE. I use the Bajri flour as an exfoliator (mentioned in my exfoliator post).

3) Wash your face with a face wash to remove the excess olive oil and rinse it off with luke warm water to open up the pores.
4) Then, apply a face mask. Check out my DIY 3 in 1 face mask for acne prone skin HERE also I have a DIY mask to get rid of pimple overnight >> Click HERE. Leave any of the mask you pick, for at least half hour and rinse it off with cold water.

Night:
1) Wash your face with a face wash and rinse it off with cold water. If you have a pimple, then check out my honey mask to get rid of it overnight HERE. Just make sure before applying the honey mask on pimple, dampen a tissue in warm water and dab it on the pimple, so it will open its pore allowing the mask to work effectively.

So that is my basic skin care routine which works WONDERS for me. I hope it works for you too. Take care

DIY: Gentle Exfoliators for Acne Prone Skin

If you have acne or pimples and you are afraid that exfoliating will make it worse.. Try this DIY natural exfoliator. Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and open up the clogged pores by removing oils/dirt. Many exfoliating products contain alcohol which dries your skin making it look dull.

So it is best to use natural exfoliators especially if you have dry/sensitive skin.

  • If you have oily skin exfoliate 4 times per week
  • If you have dry skin exfoliate twice a week
  • If you have combination skin exfoliate 4-5 times a week
  • If you have sensitive skin exfoliate 1-2 times a week
Before exfoliating, wash your face with warm water to open up the pores.
1st Recipe: You Need: (For oily, combination skin)
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp honey
Apply it on the face and rub in circular motions.
2nd Recipe: You Need: (For dry, sensitive skin)
1 tbsp Rolled oats
Directions:
Put the oats in a small bowl and add water, enough to make the oats a little damp. Apply and rub in circular motions. You can also watch the linked video. DIY oatmeal cleanser/exfoliator
3rd Recipe: You Need: (For all skin types and this is my favourite one. I use it EVERYDAY)
1 tsp Bajri flour (I know you have probably never heard of this but you can find it in Indian stores)
It has grey-ish colour. Add enough water/milk to make it damp and rub in circular motions.
Personal Experience:
I have used this SO many times, like for 2 years and I LOVED it out of all the other exfoliators. It has these little grains which makes it perfect for exfoliating. And it is for all skin types so any of you guys can use it. Take Care.

DIY: cleanser+toner+moisturiser For Acne Prone Skin

This is a 3 in 1 All-Natural cleanser, toner and moisturiser for Acne proned skin. Yup, That’s right. This facial mask is really good for those busy days when you don’t have to waste time on slapping different products on skin for different purposes.

You Need:
2 tbsp of Organic Yoghurt ( with at-least 10% fat)
If you have oily skin then choose the yoghurt with no more than 10% fat.
Directions:
Wash your face and neck with warm water to open up the pores, so the skin can absorb nutrients. Also if you have time, try exfoliating face with a gentle exfoliator, because they remove all the dirt and dead skin cells that clog up pores. DO NOT use harsh exfoliators, as they will worsen the acne. (I will soon post DIY Natural Exfoliator for acne prone skin, so keep your eye on my blog). Then just apply the yoghurt on your face and neck if you want an even skin tone
Personal Experience:
I couldn’t find any other ingredient better than yoghurt that you can use as a 3 in 1 facial mask. It is the BEST one I have tried so far. It has lots of vitamins and minerals that are skin-friendly. Applying on skin will also minimize those huge pores. I use this mask everyday and I see A LOT of difference. So I really recommend it. Its suitable for All skin types.
Research shows, even eating yoghurt helps acne. So stuff your snacks with yoghurt and give your skin a beautiful glow. Take Care.
