DIY: Natural Face Mask for Oily Acne Prone Skin

I did a similar post before. Check it out: DIY: 2 in 1 Facial Mask for Acne Prone Skin.
I use this face mask everyday now because I have REALLY oily skin. I wouldn’t recommend this for people with dry skin type because the ingredients will make your skin flaky if its already dry.
This mask somehow balances out the oils/sebum produced on my skin.
I have tested this mask for about 2 months now and there is a HUGE difference I can see.
Read more to find out…

All you Need:

1 tbsp Yoghurt
1/2 tbsp Gram Flour

Yes!! The secret lies in Gram Flour which absorbs excess oil/sebum from skin and balances it out.
Mix the ingredients together.
Wash your face with warm water to open up the pores so skin can absorb better.
Apply the face mask and leave it on for 20-30 mins. When the mask dries out, it will become hard.
You will start to notice the results within 1-2 weeks.
I feel that the decrease in oil/sebum production in my skin has reduced the amount of pimples. So YAY!!
You can also add a pinch of turmeric to lighten skin colour and it has good anti septic properties to prevent acne. I don’t add it because I don’t want to lighten my skin colour 🙂

If you have an oily T-Zone, what you can do is, apply this mask ONLY on the T-Zone and apply just yoghurt on the rest of the face because yoghurt is good to prevent acne too.

Lots of girls and women use this mask in India and this recipe has been passed down from generations so Yes it is an ancient recipe and probably that is why it works. 🙂

So girls, let me know if you tried it out and how it works for you 🙂
I love reading your responses.

Another 100% Natural Tip for Dark Circles

Hey Guys! I know it has been 4 WEEKS and I haven’t done a single post. But to be honest guys, I have been going through tough times 🙁 Its just one of those bad times in life. It sucks but I think I am learning a lot from this journey so I guess life is sweet 🙂

For the past few days, I have been reading BubzBeauty’s Diary Entries and they were SO inspiring. I mean she talks about the problems she used to have with people and in her high school and reading that makes me feel like I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. You know!! I really recommend people to read her diary entries. Trust me they are REALLY helpful. I have been home for 2 weeks and I haven’t even stepped outside my house but reading her life stories makes me less depressing 🙂
I might also start doing diary entries of my high school days and how I dealt with problems I had.

Okay I don’t want to bore you guys so back to the topic!!
I got a sweetest email from my Blog Reader. Her name is Sumedha and she gave me a REALLY good tip for dark circles. If you are reading this Sumedha, thank you so much for this. I will definitely try it out and post the results in another Blogpost.
If you want to send me any tips or ask any questions, click on the ASK ME? tab on the top.

So this is part of her email >>

“now m using dabur almond oil ..its good for skin and also helps get rid of dark circles”

I never thought almond oil can help in dark circles but then I thought why not.

Precautions:
If you are pregnant, do NOT even touch almond oil.
If you are allergic to nuts, again do NOT touch it.
Make Sure you use SWEET almond oil, since the bitter almond oil is VERY dangerous for health.

Why is it good for Dark Circles?

I think we all know this. It has Vitamin E and K which helps eliminate the darkness and moisturises those bags underneath.

How do I apply it?

Well you take some almond oil on fingers and APPLY it. jk haha
Take some oil and warm it up by rubbing between your fingers. I will post a picture below of the way you should massage this oil under eyes. This will help to remove excess fluid gathered under eyes which makes the eye bags.

So these are the directions you should apply the oil.
I use this massaging technique most times before going to sleep and I can actually notice difference under my eyes.
I suggest you to apply this before going sleep 🙂
Let me know if you have already tried this out and how it worked for you!
And if you have any questions, leave a comment below and I shall reply 🙂

My New Organic Miracle Hair Mask for Dry Frizzy Hair

As you guys know I try out MANY different natural stuff just to see if they work good or not and I only review the stuff that are not just good but EXCELLENT. And honestly, this is one of those reviews.
My hair is naturally curly so yes it tends to get frizzy and dry if I don’t take care of it.
So here is something that made a HUGE difference in my hair texture and look :)…

The miracle is (drum-roll)…………… SHEA BUTTER
Yes guys believe it or not.
And after explaining about the whole process I am going to give you guys a link of website in the end where you can buy ANY natural products for a REALLY cheap price and they are organic as far as I know.

What to Do?

  • So depending on the length of your hair take some Shea butter and put it in a bowl.
  • Its easier to apply it when it is liquid so I put it in microwave and melted it.
  • Make sure its warm NOT hot because this will open up your hair cuticles and the product with be absorbed in hair shaft effectively.
  • Massage it in scalp and apply to the ends. This is like a hot oil treatment and REALLY nourishing for hair.
  • I kept this overnight and washed it away in the morning.
After my hair was dry I could not stop feeling my hair because it was SUPER SOFT. Like a Miracle!
During the 2nd and 3rd day without washing hair, I noticed that my hair didn’t get frizzy at all.
My hair in winter is like a frizz ball sometimes so when I go out in winter I HAVE TO keep my hair up but this week my hair was as soft and un-frizzy as never it had been before.
I really recommend this product 🙂

Pros:

  1. Great Hair Mask
  2. I also noticed that when I used it as a moisturiser for a week, my skin was a lot firmer. I am not sure why but it happened 🙂
  3. If you have rough/black knees then this will help you
  4. This is a Multi Task Product basically and so saves LOTS of money
  5. It is sooooooooo cheap. Anyone can afford it.

Cons:

  1. Because the product is 100% natural, no perfumes or anything is added and so the smell isn’t really bad but isn’t really pleasant as well.
Here is the website I got the product from: E-Natural.Com

Yup that is true.

7 Ancient Chinese Beauty Secrets

First of all I LOVE China. Their culture, traditions, food and the list goes on. I am really into Chinese skin/body treatments like Acupressure Points for Beautiful Skin. Its so fascinating. After reading their secrets I feel like I knew NOTHING. Ever wondered why their hair is so straight? I heard its because they eat a lot of sea food. I could be wrong but its just something I heard. I totally love their hair <3 .="." p="p">So keep reading to find out more secrets…

1.   A chinese doctor explains that having unhealthy skin could be a cause of bad liver condition. Liver detoxifies our blood so it keeps the blood clean. If livers dont work properly, the blood becomes full of toxins which causes unhealthy skin problems. So once a week we should take the detoxifying drinks which cleanse the liver thoroughly. I will do a separate post on making these drinks. I have tried them so I know 🙂 Also avoid taking alcohol and processed junkie foods.

2.   Chinese people have some herbs which help their bodies adapt to stress, improve immune system, boost immune system, protect from some cancers, regenerates liver, oxygenates blood, calms the mind and balances blood sugar. Wow that was a huge list. These herbs are called Adaptogens. Reishi mushrooms is an example and it is the most powerful of all Adaptogens. Schizandra is another one that keeps the youth of your skin preserved.

3.   Chinese women used Pearl Powder which is made from oyster shells. These shells contain lots of amino acids which rejuvenate the skin. In clinical research pearl powder has been shown to soothe inflammation, promote healing and and calm redness and skin irritations. They mix 1 tbsp pearl powder with 1 egg yolk and 1 tbsp honey.

4.   You know why they drink lots of green, white and oolong tea? Its because they help in weight loss and keep your skin younger 🙂

5.   I have always wondered how their skin is so fair and whiter than the rest Asians. And their secret lies in mint leaves. These are cheap to buy as far as I know. You can even grow them in your house. You can grind  the mint leaves and make a paste. Apply it as a face mask and brighten your complexion.

6.   An ancient Chinese princess had a secret beauty weapon called Tremella. It is a snow fungus/mushroom. It is an excellent skin conditioning agent, has lots of antioxidants and contains high level of Vitamin D.

7. Ok this tip is a little different. I read this article where a woman goes China and she sees a man on a market stall selling tins of snake oils and tiger balms and other creams for less than a dollar. And many grandmas were buying them :/ I could be wrong about this article I don’t know. But I am just sharing what I read in it.

8. I love the way they use a lot of Rice because it is very nutritious. And especially I love the idea where they use rice as facial toners. Check out this video of Michelle Phan below to make your own toner. It is absolutely amazing.

So please let me know your opinions and if you would adapt any of these tips.

3 Ways to Get Rid of Cold Sores Naturally

Wow I did not know this fact about cold sores >> “Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus.”
So this was a request from my beautiful reader 🙂 And here it is.

“I get a cold sore at least once a year, and they are the grossest things ever !!! Ive tried all the name brand store treatments that say it reduces the way it looks in 24 hours and well…..THATS A LIE !! Any ideas on how to prevent those ugly things or make them disappear as fast as they came???? “

You can send me a request too. Just click on the Ask me? tab on the top of my page.
I always got them whenever I went India, so yes I have the experience. So far I only used ice cubes to treat them but that’s not good enough and I just found that out. There are so many other, better ways 🙂 Check them out…

What causes it?

Stress
Anxiety
Cold
Too much exposure in sun

Natural Treatments:

First of all AVOID salty and acidic foods as they can aggravate the cold sores and make them painful.

1.   Dab some tea tree oil on the cold sore with a cotton. It should disappear in 2-3 days. Dab it a few times in a day and before going to sleep.

2.   Place a damp tea bag on your cold sore. I would suggest green tea and keep it on for 1-2 mins. Don’t wash it off after that.

3. You can also dab some coconut oil or lavender essential oil.

You can prevent them by using lip balms that has some SPF in it. I use Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Balm
It is the SOFTEST and the most gorgeous lip balm ever. It isn’t that expensive and it has SPF of 15.

You should take care you don’t pass it on to someone because it is very contagious as it is a virus.
I hope you found your way out of those painful sores 🙁 I know how it feels.

Natural Toners That DOESN’T Dry Out Skin

Most of the Toners really dried out my skin and I absolutely hated that especially in winter. At one point I got kind of flaky skin then I stopped using that toner. I put some research and I found a lot of toners that were natural out there. Yes, they sold NATURAL toners in REAL shops. I didn’t actually believe it first but I had to try it out. And so I did. Read more to know which one suits your skin the best…

Lush’s Tea Tree Water Toner

When I was watching reviews on this product, people said it made their pores smaller. Even my friend said it when she tried it out. But it didn’t make mine smaller 🙁 However, every one is different. It worked on most, it might work on you.
And the best thing I loved about this was that it didn’t dry out my skin or it didn’t over moisturised my skin.
It was just neutral. It didn’t even give me that tight feeling on the skin.
Its great for acne prone skin since tea tree is anti inflammatory and anti bacterial.
So its great for acne prone, combination-dry skin and the ones with large pores.

Rose and Glycerine Toner

First of all, I like its smell.
I read the ingredients and yes there were a few chemicals so it wasn’t 100% natural.
But I still tried it because I love rose water. It reminds me of India because a lot of princesses in ancient times used roses for beauty purposes.
Rose water is also good for acne prone skin because it has that cooling effect which calms the acne inflammations.
When I used this toner, I didn’t even use my moisturiser sometimes because the toner itself is moisturising.
I think  it can be a 2 in 1 product a toner and moisturiser at the same time.
This is perfect for anyone who doesn’t want too much product on their face.
Its great for dry skin type and acne prone skin 🙂

Sea Salt Toner

I haven’t found a NATURAL Sea Salt toner in shops yet.
So I thought to make one. I used it for about a month and it never dried out my skin.
I know you are like how can it not dry out skin because its salt.
Well I think its maybe because its SEA salt not Table Salt. So its not processed in factories.
You can check out this post on DIY: Pure Sea Salt Facial Toner.

I hope you found your perfect toner 🙂

DIY: Natural Setting Spray for Acne-Prone Skin

DIY: Natural Setting Spray for Acne-Prone Skin lavish krish
So there I was watching YouTube Beauty tutorials where the girls showed their favourite products.. A lot of them mentioned Mac’s Fix + Finishing/Setting Spray and they all said it was amazing. It made their makeup flawless after a few mists of this product. So I got really excited about buying this and I did buy it. I compared the Mac’s spray with my 100% Natural Finishing Spray. And here’s what I think which one is better and which suits what skin type.

You will be VERY surprised when I tell you about my skin-friendly setting spray. I use it after I have my foundation, concealer, bronzer and highlighter on and it just pulls the whole look together giving me flawless model-like makeup look.

Check out my recent post on Natural Mac Fix + Dupes.

It’s just simple Cold Water stored in a spray bottle. Yes, ONLY Cold Water.

I have bought the Mac Fix + twice because I REALLY liked it.
It was actually good but it made my skin a little shiny. So I tried again and didn’t spray too much this time but I had the same result. I had a shiny T-Zone.
Well I have naturally oily-combination skin so I thought this spray just made it more oilier.
But you can use it if you have dry skin.

natural setting spray for acne prone skin

When I use the Cold Water as a Finishing Spray, it makes me feel sooooo fresh and my make up is perfect. Its not too shiny and not too matte. It gives a subtle sheen which looks so natural and beautiful.
It wakes me up instantly if I am lazy in the mornings. And with this it doesn’t matter if you have dry or oily skin because it works with every skin type since it’s all natural.

It’s good for acne prone skin because it’s cold water, which calms the inflammation of acne. And there are no harsh chemicals going on your skin to aggravate the acne even more.
I use water from the cold tap in my bathroom to be honest. You can use cold filtered water as well if you want to be that careful but I just go for the tap water. Ain’t nobody got time to cool the filtered water haha.

The best thing is that it is absolutely FREE.

13 Ancient Egyptian Beauty Secrets

I did a post before on Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Secrets. And this is the second on on Egyptian. I absolutely LOVE searching for Ancient Secrets and not just for Beauty purpose but also because I think Historic stuff is really reliable than nowadays. I can trust the historic beauty recipes rather than today’s lotions and potions. And we all know the reason why 🙂

When we think of Egypt, Cleopatra comes in our mind first. The woman who is an iconic symbol of Beauty. She wrote books on Beauty Secrets she found throughout her life. Things like Exfoliants, Eye Creams, Hair Extensions are all coming from Ancient Egypt. But they were pure and natural in those times unlike now. So keep on reading to reveal those secrets…

Secrets Revealed:

  • Many Egyptian women used Sea Salt from The Dead Sea. Cleopatra used this salt in her bath. This Sea Salt was a skin rejuvenator and it combats skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. I did a blog post on DIY: Pure Sea Salt Facial Toner and I absolutely love it 🙂
  • The combination of Milk and Honey was really popular as a face mask or body wash. I use honey with cinnamon so I might give this a try too.
  • A hair mask was made with Coconut Milk and warm Extra Virgin Olive Oil to strengthen and condition hair. It sounds so luxurious <3
  • Aloe Vera played a HUGE part in Egyptian and Indian beauty routines. It was used for skin, hair, healing burns etc… This ingredient was like All in 1 ingredient. And I absolutely agree. They even ate it  sometimes to improve digestion and lose weight.
  • Avocado was used to reduce the puffiness under eyes.
  • A technique called Body Sugaring was used to remove Body Hair. It removed the hair from roots and when it grows back, there will be less of it and it will be softer. I will do a separate post on this technique because it will take VERY long to explain.
  • Rosemary Oil, Castor Oil and Almond Oil was used to stimulate hair growth.
  • Egyptian women used a lot of Aromatic Oils for a clean hygiene. The most popular were frankincense and myrrh essential oils. These were their treasured scents and the most adored <3
  • The combination of Honey and Natron (or Baking Soda) was used as a facial scrub.
  • Coconut Oil, Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter was used as hair gels and to hold their hairstyles in place.
  • This was the most surprising secret I found. Cleopatra used crocodile’s dung and Donkey’s milk together as a Body Wash. Well no one is really going to adapt this tip nowadays but I just thought to put it down because I think its pretty strange.
  • Henna was popular to give their nails and hair a tinted colour of yellow-red tones.
  • They made eye liner out of galena and lead sulfide. The spice saffron was used as an eyeshadow. Burnt almonds were used to darken eyebrows. And Red Ochre was used to color lips.

9 Benefits of Keeping Plants Indoors

Hey girls! Most of my friends decorate their houses with beautiful plants. And I actually think that is a really good idea. Not only it has sooo many benefits but it also helps global warming right? So why not go green 🙂
You might think what’s a little plant going to help but think about it. If everyone is going to say that, we would have been surrounded by desert right now.

The Benefits:

  • They purify the air inside the house. So if you are living in a very polluted city, you might want to try this to keep your house purified. Purified air also makes your skin glow and your over all health.
  • It removed carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide from the air.
  • Putting a plant indoors will reduce health problems like coughing and dry throats.
  • It reduces fatigue. So for lazy people (like me) this is very helpful.
  • If you are surrounded by a good environment, then naturally it keeps you happy and glowing.
  • Kenneth Freeman, head of Ambius University notes that by putting plants in the work environment, people are healthier, they’re happier, they’re more engaged with people around them. People are up to 17 per cent more productive just by having plants there
  • Some plants aloe vera are SUPER beneficial since you can use it for your skin, hair etc… In India, most of the families had at least one aloe vera plant because this plant doesn’t need much water and since it is REALLY hot there, it can survive easily.
  • If you keep a little plant in your office or study room, it will keep you stress free and this will allow you to work for longer hours and harder 🙂
  • If you are prone to allergies, keeping plants in your house may help you reduce them.

What Plants are Suitable Indoors:

Aloe vera- needs very little water
Chinese Evergreen- grows in low sunlight so perfect for indoors, and highly rated as indoors purifier.
Lady palm or Rhapis excelsa- tolerates low light and it is long lasting.
Prayer plant or Calathea- Enjoys warm, high-level light situations
Zanzibar gem or Zamioculcas zamiifolia- Great for high or low levels of light and tolerant of long dry spells
I hope we will soon end the global warming.
Your little efforts will bring a big change.
So respect your earth by giving a few hours from your precious lives to bring this change.
