6 Winter Tips for Curly Hair

Does your hair get really frizzy during winter?? Check out my DIY post to prevent frizz during winter HERE. Does your hair get dry and brittle too?? Well now it won’t if you follow my steps carefully..

1) Avoid straightening your hair during winter because it will make your hair more dry and brittle from the heat damage. Don’t do it more than once a week.

2) After washing your hair, apply some nourishing leave in conditioner or repairing hair cream. I use Avon Repair 3D Rescue to moisturize my hair.

3) Use nourishing oils like almond oil or Moroccan oil which keeps the frizz away and also nourishes hair AMAZINGLY. I always apply it after washing my hair and when they are completely dry. Just apply 1 tbsp of any oil you choose. They don’t have any odor and they won’t make your hair look greasy at all.

4) Use heat protection sprays even if you are not going to put any heat on your hair. Because it will close your hair cuticles and protect from any damage from cold winds of winter. I use TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray. It smells AMAZING!!

5) If you want to define your curls and make them look more perfect, do not use curling irons. Instead use rollers or do the pin curls. I know its time consuming but you can blow dry them to speed up the process. Watch a hair tutorial for the pin curls HERE.

6) Blow dry your hair with medium heat for less damage. And DO NOT brush hair when they are wet. It will break them.

DIY: Prevent Hair Loss

Do you have GREEN TEA in your kitchen?? If you don’t you need to buy it ASAP. I LOVE it because it is good for both skin and hair. I will do a separate post on how you can use green tea for skin. But for now its for hair 🙂 Don’t worry your hair won’t smell bad at all. It doesn’t have any smell and it won’t stain your hair.

Okay so here is what you do if you are suffering from hair loss..

1) Take a pan and fill half of it with water.
2) Put 2 green tea bags in the pan and warm up the water on a stove. DO NOT brew it because it will kill the nutrients in green tea. And DO NOT boil it, just warm up the water and stir it with the tea bags until the water is dark-ish green.
3) Then turn off the gas and let the water cool down.
4) Put some ice cubes in the green tea to make it cool because if you pour cold water with green tea in it, it makes your hair shiny and glossy and it closes the hair cuticles to prevent hair loss.
5) When the green tea is cold enough, pour it in a jug.
6) Shampoo and Condition your hair as you do normally and then pour the green tea on your hair and let it pass thoroughly.

Oh and green tea also help in hair growth.

What not to do to when it comes to hair loss :-

Don’t brush your hair when they are wet because that’s when they are at their weakest point.
Don’t do any hairstyles that are tight because they make your hair thin and weak.
Don’t brush your hair every minute. Once a day is enough.
If you have itchy scalp, don’t scratch it harshly.
If you have long sharp nails, they can break your hair. (This is the reason my hair were breaking so then I had to cut my nails and unsharpen them and since then my hair doesn’t really fall out)
Don’t massage your scalp with your nails.
Don’t pull your hair too much when putting them up.

And that is all 🙂 Take Care.

DIY: How to Get Perfect Lashes Naturally

Do you ever wonder “How do they get long full looking eyelashes” when looking at celebrities like Kim Kardashian? Because I always do. My eyelashes were falling out so much for the past few months so I tried a trick to make them longer and fuller Naturally.

1) Castor oil

This oil is AMAZING if you want dark and full eyelashes.

2) Almond Oil

This oil works for people with short lashes. So to make them longer I definitely recommend this oil. If your lashes are falling out, you can use this one too. I used this trick to prevent my lashes from falling out and now my lashes are looking longer than before and aren’t falling out.

3) Petroleum Jelly

This is the cheapest way to moisturize eyelashes.
WARNING: One of my beautiful reader told me that be very careful when you put this on. It should NOT get into your eyes because it can be very harmful. Wash your eyes immediately with cold water if it does 🙂

4) Do not leave mascaras on your eyelashes overnight.

I know sometimes we can get lazy and just can’t be bothered to take it off. Well I do get lazy sometimes. But that’s what causes your lashes to fall out and become shorter. Since then I stopped and I definitely see a difference.

5) Take vitamin supplements.

Because your lashes are very similar to the hair on your head, you need vitamins and minerals to maintain them.

You can also combine some ingredients mentioned above if you have more than 1 problem. Any of the tips you use from above, you can apply them using a Q-tip. I just warm the oils between my fingers and apply directly.
Personal Experience: The 1st and 2nd trick works the best of all 🙂
Take care.

Make Your Hair/Make up Last All Day

Profile of smiling model with pink lipstick and eyeshadow

I read an article from Real Simple about how to make you hair/ make up and other beauty concerns, last as long as possible. It’s really amazing and works wonders…

Foundation:

Use oil-free foundations, because they don’t have emollient ingredients that makes the foundation slide off your face. If your skin is dry, use a really good moisturizer and let it soak it for 5 mins before putting foundation on.
Lock it in with powder and you are ready to go 🙂

Eye Shadow:

Apply a primer before. If you don’t have a primer, use a creamy shadow that matches your skin color or that matches the eye shadow you will use. If you don’t prefer layering, then just apply the shadow with a damp brush and that should last long enough.

Eyeliner:

Liquid and gel eyeliners last longer than the pencil one. But if you just can’t part with your beloved pencil, then trace it over with a black shadow. You can also trace with a liquid liner on the bottom and top. I do that personally and it last WAY longer, like up to 8-9 hours. BE VERY CAREFUL though, and try not to stab yourself with the liquid liner brush in the eye.

Mascaras:

Simply use a water proof mascara.

Lipstick:

Use a lip liner. And use a lip brush, because it presses the pigment deeper in lips than a tube or your finger. Also it applies several thin layers without a gloppy result.

A Blow-Out:

After a home blow-out, make sure that your hair is completely dry. If there’s moisture left, it will definitely get your hair frizzy. Run your finger thoroughly to check for any moisture. Then do style as you want. Always wear a shower cap when taking shower, as it will prevent that poofy hair look after getting out of shower. Sleep with a high ponytail, it gives volume 🙂

An Up-do:

Apply moose in your hair and blow dry it.

Curls:

This trick won’t work on dry hair. So shampoo and condition your hair with moisturising formulas. Then spritz hair spray on damp hair. This will hold your curls for long enough. Curl your hair with roller or pin curls and blow dry it, if your in a hurry. Otherwise just leave them on for around an hour, depending on your hair type.

Manicure:

Buff each nail before painting them, as its harder for paint to adhere on rough surfaces. Do not skip base and top coat. Base coat gives the polish something to stick on and the top coat seals in the color. Let each coat dry for full 2 mins.

Perfume:

Choose and Eau de Parfum which is more concentrated and stronger than others like Eau de Toilette. Apply perfume on places that aren’t really exposed to air like your nape, the back of your neck.

A Shave:

Use a hydrating gel for dry skin. This will prop up the hairs and it gives the razor a deep access to the roots. Use a thin layer of the gel, since any more will obstruct the razor. Make a few passes with your razor over each area.

Self-Tanner:

Exfoliate the area before few hours of your tanning process and then moisturize. If you don’t your tan will flake off more quickly. After self-tanning, although your skin may feel slightly sticky, resist rubbing the excess off with a towel, the color needs time to develop fully. Instead blot it if you can.

DIY: Get Rid of Facial Hair in 2 Mins

Girls, I know it’s extremely embarrassing for girls to have facial hair. But you are not the only one. If you have facial hair and want the EASIEST way to get rid of them, then

You Need:
A thread of 6 inches which I am sure everyone has at home.

Yes, its threading, but the way I do at home doesn’t require an expert to do it and you don’t need some one else to do it for you. This way, your facial hair will grow back in 2 weeks, so its almost like waxing but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to wax their face, as it strips away the natural moisture in your skin and makes your skin red. It also removes hair from roots so in meantime, they will stop growing.

Directions:
1) Take the thread and tie both ends together.

Watch this video for further directions HERE because it is hard to explain in words.

The video is for eyebrows but you can do the same for upper lip.
After threading, just splash the threaded area with cold water and you are ready to go 🙂 Take Care

DIY: Get Voluminous Lustrous Hair

Volumizing products can only give you temporary volume in your hair. Do you want your hair to be voluminous and shiny (not greasy) forever?, then keep on reading…

You Need:
Coconut Oil
Castor Oil
Olive Oil
Almond Oil

Coconut Oil strengthens hair. Castor oil makes hair voluminous. Olive Oil makes hair shiny (not greasy) and Almond Oil nourishes hair.

Directions:
Wash your hair at night with your chosen shampoo. Let your hair air-dry. Until your hair dries, prepare your oils. Mix all the oils together taking enough amounts depending on your hair length. Take all the oils in equal amounts. Then put the mixed oils in microwave bowl and heat it up to be warm enough to apply. Warm oil opens up the pores and will be absorbed effectively by the hair follicles. When ALL your hair dries, massage the oils in your scalp and apply the rest on your hair. Secure your hair tightly with a cloth, and leave it overnight.
Do this at least once a week and your efforts will definitely show on your hair. Take Care.

5 Ways to Dye Hair Naturally. Just Pick your Colour.

Dying hair whether at home or at salons, will definitely damage your hair. But doing it naturally will not cause any damage. You just pick the colour you want and give it a try 🙂 I want you all to know that I don’t promise, it will work effectively on everyone in just one go. You will have to try them at least 2 times to get the intense colour.

I haven’t tried any of them yet. I would love to but I don’t get time these days 🙁

Before trying out these hair dyes, make sure your hair is clean and without any products. If you are not feeling comfortable with the outcomes then test a small strand of your hair with these dyes.

1st Hair Dye:
Henna (Mehndi)
Check the colour chart HERE.

Directions:
Henna is PERFECT if you want your hair to be glossy, thick and long. DO NOT use henna dye that has chemicals in it and which is black in colour. You will find Henna in any Indian stores. Ask the shopkeeper if it is natural before buying it. Also buy the powder form of henna. If you are scared of the results, then test it on a small strand of hair and time it to check how long you should leave it for your hair colour choice. This will work only in 1 go.

Directions: Mix the powder henna with yogurt until its a yogurt like consistency. Let it sit overnight. Then in the morning put on plastic gloves and separate your hair in few parts depending on the volume of your hair. But averagely separate top + bottom head. Clip away the top part and apply the henna mixture in the bottom part. Do the same with the top. If you get henna on forehead, wipe it off because it will stain your skin. The stain goes away in a day or two. When you have got the henna applied, wrap your head with a piece of cloth that covers all your hair. It won’t stain your bath tub so don’t worry about that. If you are trying it for the first time then leave it on for only an hour and rinse it all out. Later if you want more intense colour then try it again and leave it on for longer. Wash your hair with a shampoo made for colour treated hair.

2nd Hair Dye:
Honey

Directions:
Honey bleaches your hair naturally so it is perfect if you want a lighter shade than your natural colour. Mix honey and yoghurt together to make it non-sticky. Take enough yoghurt to make honey non-sticky and take honey depending on your hair length. Apply it and leave it on for at least 2 hours. It won’t work in 1 go, you have to do this for at least 3-4 times. Do this only once a week.

3rd Hair Dye:
Black Tea

Directions:
Black Tea gives your hair a darker shade than your natural hair colour. Brew 2 cups of strong tea. When its warm enough rinse with it. Take out the excess tea water and leave the rest on for 3-4 hours and then rinse your hair gently with pure water. Do this 3-4 times and you should notice the colour change.

4th Hair Dye:
Coffee

Directions:
Coffee gives you red and brown highlights in dark hair. Prepare 2 cups of strong coffee as you would to drink. Wash your hair with a good shampoo and then put this mixture in a small tub. Put the tub in your bath tub and dip your hair in it. Rinse your hair over and over again with the mixture from the tub with a glass or some container. Work the coffee thoroughly. Take the excess coffee mixture out and leave the rest in hair for 3-4 hours and then rinse with plain water. You should notice a few highlights after doing this 3-4 times.

5th Hair Dye:
Rhubarb Root

Directions:
Visit your local health store to get an access to buy Rhubarb Root. This plant lightens your hair from honey brown to blonde or light brown. It lightens any hair colour, a shade or two. Simmer the root in 4 cups of water in a glass or non metal pot for about an hour. Let it cool down and then strain it through a sieve. Put the mixture in a small tub and use this mixture to rinse your hair after washing it with a shampoo. Pour the mixture on your hair over and over again to get the colour. Rinse hair with 2 cups of pure water to get the mixture out and leave your hair to dry in sun so the colour comes out better.

You can also buy this hair dye which is made naturally. It is called Naturtint Permanent Hair Colourant. Click HERE to see. You can buy it online from the website or from any drug stores/health stores.
