DIY: 3 Ways Whiten/Brighten Your Eyes Naturally

This was a request from my lovely reader.
If you want to request something, simply Click on the ASK ME? tab on top of my blog.

I have searched about this so much but only found 3 results. I have heard that using eye drops from over the counter can get rid of redness for a few hours but long term, it can make your eyes more and more red when you don’t use it. So I bought the eye drops once and now I don’t use them at all.
Then I went off to find out how to whiten them naturally. I found 2 Ayurvedic (ancient Indian) ways of curing it. So read more to find out…

Our mums were absolutely right. EAT THOSE CARROTS. YES carrots do make your eyes appear brighter and whiter. For this, you can buy some organic fresh carrots and put it in a blender to take some juice out of it. Use this juice as eye drops but do not put it literally in your eyes. Put it on your eyelids instead at night and wake up with beautiful brighter eyes 🙂

Ayurvedic Ways:

Have you ever heard of Indian Gooseberry fruit? If no, GOOGLE it. It is the best fruit for eyes, skin, hair and basically for everything. You have got to look up this thing. It is amaaazing what it does to you and how healthy it makes you. Well any-ways, you can use its juice and put it in your eyes at night.

As an alternative, you can also use Triphala powder for eyes. One of the ingredient of this powder is the Indian Gooseberry. This stuff is amazing for digestion and eyes. You can mix the powder with some distilled water and spray it in your eyes. This is an Ayurvedic advice too. My mum tried this and I see a difference in her eyes. I mean they look much more healthier than before. I tried this out too. You will feel a little sensation in your eyes but its totally normal.

I hope this help you guys 🙂

7 Ancient Chinese Beauty Secrets

First of all I LOVE China. Their culture, traditions, food and the list goes on. I am really into Chinese skin/body treatments like Acupressure Points for Beautiful Skin. Its so fascinating. After reading their secrets I feel like I knew NOTHING. Ever wondered why their hair is so straight? I heard its because they eat a lot of sea food. I could be wrong but its just something I heard. I totally love their hair <3 .="." p="p">So keep reading to find out more secrets…

1.   A chinese doctor explains that having unhealthy skin could be a cause of bad liver condition. Liver detoxifies our blood so it keeps the blood clean. If livers dont work properly, the blood becomes full of toxins which causes unhealthy skin problems. So once a week we should take the detoxifying drinks which cleanse the liver thoroughly. I will do a separate post on making these drinks. I have tried them so I know 🙂 Also avoid taking alcohol and processed junkie foods.

2.   Chinese people have some herbs which help their bodies adapt to stress, improve immune system, boost immune system, protect from some cancers, regenerates liver, oxygenates blood, calms the mind and balances blood sugar. Wow that was a huge list. These herbs are called Adaptogens. Reishi mushrooms is an example and it is the most powerful of all Adaptogens. Schizandra is another one that keeps the youth of your skin preserved.

3.   Chinese women used Pearl Powder which is made from oyster shells. These shells contain lots of amino acids which rejuvenate the skin. In clinical research pearl powder has been shown to soothe inflammation, promote healing and and calm redness and skin irritations. They mix 1 tbsp pearl powder with 1 egg yolk and 1 tbsp honey.

4.   You know why they drink lots of green, white and oolong tea? Its because they help in weight loss and keep your skin younger 🙂

5.   I have always wondered how their skin is so fair and whiter than the rest Asians. And their secret lies in mint leaves. These are cheap to buy as far as I know. You can even grow them in your house. You can grind  the mint leaves and make a paste. Apply it as a face mask and brighten your complexion.

6.   An ancient Chinese princess had a secret beauty weapon called Tremella. It is a snow fungus/mushroom. It is an excellent skin conditioning agent, has lots of antioxidants and contains high level of Vitamin D.

7. Ok this tip is a little different. I read this article where a woman goes China and she sees a man on a market stall selling tins of snake oils and tiger balms and other creams for less than a dollar. And many grandmas were buying them :/ I could be wrong about this article I don’t know. But I am just sharing what I read in it.

8. I love the way they use a lot of Rice because it is very nutritious. And especially I love the idea where they use rice as facial toners. Check out this video of Michelle Phan below to make your own toner. It is absolutely amazing.

So please let me know your opinions and if you would adapt any of these tips.

DIY: Body Sugaring to Remove Body / Facial Hair from Roots

Helloo Girls! So a few days back I posted Ancient Egyptian Beauty Secrets where I mentioned about Body Sugaring. I couldn’t fully explain about Body Sugaring in that post because it’d take really long. So I am making a separate post for that.

A lot of Egyptian and Indian women used this Body Sugaring technique to remove hair from the roots. They had a lot of problems from lice so they preferred to keep themselves hair-less. They even shaved their heads and wore a wig instead to avoid lice. Read more how to remove body hair from the roots with this technique…
This is very similar to waxing except this is a natural approach.

All you Need:

1 cup Sugar
Juice from one half Lemon
1 cup Honey
A Popsicle stick or a Spatula
Cotton Fabric Strips (You can use old jeans fabric and cut it into strips).

Directions:

1.     Mix all the ingredient in a sauce pan and turn on the heat to medium.
2.     Once it starts boiling turn the heat to low and start stirring.
3.     Turn off the heat after 2 mins of stirring and let it sit until it gets warm enough to touch.
4.     Please be careful here and make sure you don’t get burnt by the hot mixture 🙂

How to Apply:

1.     Dust your skin with talc powder or cornstarch. This will prevent the paste from sticking to your skin.
2.     Use the popsicle stick or spatula to apply the paste in direction of hair growth.
3.     Cover the applied paste with cotton/ jeans strips and rub the fabric in direction of hair growth.
4.     Hold the skin tight and pull the strip off in opposite direction of hair growth.

Click here to read the Experience of Body Sugaring.

And that’s it 🙂 I told you its very similar to waxing except the paste is home made.
Let me know how it worked for you 🙂

13 Ancient Egyptian Beauty Secrets

I did a post before on Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Secrets. And this is the second on on Egyptian. I absolutely LOVE searching for Ancient Secrets and not just for Beauty purpose but also because I think Historic stuff is really reliable than nowadays. I can trust the historic beauty recipes rather than today’s lotions and potions. And we all know the reason why 🙂

When we think of Egypt, Cleopatra comes in our mind first. The woman who is an iconic symbol of Beauty. She wrote books on Beauty Secrets she found throughout her life. Things like Exfoliants, Eye Creams, Hair Extensions are all coming from Ancient Egypt. But they were pure and natural in those times unlike now. So keep on reading to reveal those secrets…

Secrets Revealed:

  • Many Egyptian women used Sea Salt from The Dead Sea. Cleopatra used this salt in her bath. This Sea Salt was a skin rejuvenator and it combats skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. I did a blog post on DIY: Pure Sea Salt Facial Toner and I absolutely love it 🙂
  • The combination of Milk and Honey was really popular as a face mask or body wash. I use honey with cinnamon so I might give this a try too.
  • A hair mask was made with Coconut Milk and warm Extra Virgin Olive Oil to strengthen and condition hair. It sounds so luxurious <3
  • Aloe Vera played a HUGE part in Egyptian and Indian beauty routines. It was used for skin, hair, healing burns etc… This ingredient was like All in 1 ingredient. And I absolutely agree. They even ate it  sometimes to improve digestion and lose weight.
  • Avocado was used to reduce the puffiness under eyes.
  • A technique called Body Sugaring was used to remove Body Hair. It removed the hair from roots and when it grows back, there will be less of it and it will be softer. I will do a separate post on this technique because it will take VERY long to explain.
  • Rosemary Oil, Castor Oil and Almond Oil was used to stimulate hair growth.
  • Egyptian women used a lot of Aromatic Oils for a clean hygiene. The most popular were frankincense and myrrh essential oils. These were their treasured scents and the most adored <3
  • The combination of Honey and Natron (or Baking Soda) was used as a facial scrub.
  • Coconut Oil, Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter was used as hair gels and to hold their hairstyles in place.
  • This was the most surprising secret I found. Cleopatra used crocodile’s dung and Donkey’s milk together as a Body Wash. Well no one is really going to adapt this tip nowadays but I just thought to put it down because I think its pretty strange.
  • Henna was popular to give their nails and hair a tinted colour of yellow-red tones.
  • They made eye liner out of galena and lead sulfide. The spice saffron was used as an eyeshadow. Burnt almonds were used to darken eyebrows. And Red Ochre was used to color lips.

DIY: Acupressure Points for Beautiful Skin

You must be wondering what in the world is Acupressure. Well I am really interested in these Ancient treatments so I came across this one. The idea comes from Ancient China.

Acupressure Points are located around your body and all you need to do is press on those points with your fingers to deal with health/ beauty related problems.
It is said that in Ancient China, Acupressure Points were like prescriptions to treat patients. They had herbal medicines but this was a much easier way.
Nowadays many therapists use Acupressure and some therapists also teach Acupressure to pregnant ladies for a healthy child.

I am going to tell you some points on your body that gives you beautiful skin. You can have your own spa treatment at home now 🙂 You should massage these points for 30-60 seconds for about 3 times per week

  • Point 1: The Third Eye
This is the point between your eyebrows and above your nose (the red dot).

It stimulates the pituitary gland, which is the master endocrine gland, to enhance the condition of the skin throughout the body.

  • Point 2: Four Whites
This point is located 1 inch below the pupil and on the cheek. You should feel the cheek bone too.
This point cures acne and blemishes.
  • Point 3: Facial Beauty

This point is under your pupils and below the cheekbone. Its basically right under (1 inch below) the Point 2.
It relieves acne, facial blemishes, poor complexion, sagging cheeks and improves facial circulation.

  • Point 4: Heavenly Appearance
This point is located just under the ear lobe and behind the jaw where you kinda feel the indentation.
It balances the thyroid gland to increase the luster of the skin; relieves hives.

Sorry girls I couldn’t find a better picture 🙁

I haven’t tried this massaging technique but after hearing this I really want to. So I will definitely try this and do another post to let you girls know about the results.
I hope you liked it.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

India has all types of people living in all kinds of places from a dusty dessert to tropical forests. And the secrets I am going to share with you all are coming from the era when princesses used to bathe in milk and rose petals which is about.. thousands of years ago.
Indian women mostly focus on their skin complexions, body shape and hair care.
We love to make our hair smell good, keep our skin fair and build curves in our body.
It is said that women in ancient India were praised of their lustrous, long hair and flawless complexion.
So let’s see what they did to achieve what I call the ‘natural glam’ haha

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

1)     If you are on a journey to losing weight, you might want to try adding spice in your diet e.g. chillies. But don’t go overboard. Chillies speed up your metabolism and believe it or not, even models add chillies and other spices in their diet to maintain their weight.

2)     Neem leaves were very popular to treat acne and other skin problems. The leaves were crushed to make a paste / face mask or neem oil was used as a cleanser

3)     Turmeric was an important spice used to even out the skin complexion and get rid of hyperpigmentation. Make a paste of chick pea flour, turmeric and milk. Add the ingredients until it has consistency like any other face masks. Apply this paste all over your body and massage it in. Wash it out after 10-15 mins.

4)     Use cold water as a toner. It closes the pores, improves blood circulation and cell stimulation. Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

5)     As well as neem, onion juice was also believed to fight off acne. Mix some onion juice and honey in equal ratio. Apply it as a face mask and wash it after 10-15 mins.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets6)     Another face mask for acne prone skin uses sandalwood and turmeric powder mixed with yoghurt. This mask has anti-septic properties. It makes your skin smooth, soft, acne-free and even toned. Mix the ingredients until your desired consistency forms and apply it. Wash it after 10-15 mins.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets7)     Ancient Indian women used Kajal (homemade natural eyeliner). It was made from castor oil, coconut oil, almond oil and black mustard seeds. This made your eyes brighter/whiter, it improved vision and stimulates the growth of eye lashes

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets8)    The main ingredients used for hair care were Amla, Shikakai, Coconut Oil and Henna. There are actually thousands of herbs that were used for hair care but these are the main ones. And I always use coconut oil. I can swear by it. It really does help my hair grow really fast.

9)     Ayurveda advises that do not put anything on your skin that you cannot eat. All their face masks are actually edible. Even if I use these natural stuff, I put make up on my skin like foundation. I wonder what it does to my skin 🙁 I will try to use them less often now.

Ancient Ayurvedic (Indian) Beauty Secrets

10)   Many people think that being beautiful will make us happy but it is really the other way around. You will be beautiful when you are happy from the inside. Try to walk past a crowd of people with a frown on your face or a beautiful smile and you will notice the difference.

The secret my Mum passed on to Me:

It is a face mask. My skin was really bad back then and so she advised me to apply this face mask which actually changed my skin A LOT.  I kept ignoring her advice because I used to think it’s an old thing and it’s not gonna work but actually nothing worked better than this face mask.
It was Honey and Cinnamon mask. For more details on this click HERE.I truly want to stop using cosmetics and embrace these ancient secrets. And to be honest, the one that I have already embraced have worked WAY better than anything else. For example coconut oil for my hair, honey and cinnamon for skin and certain diets for body. I will try my best to adapt a Natural Healthy Lifestyle.

Are you willing to do that? Can you give up the cosmetics and embrace Natural ingredients that work like magic? I will certainly try my best 🙂
